How WhatsApp Business API Works.

As of August 2018, there is now a Business Solution for bigger companies: the official WhatsApp Business API. The WhatsApp Business API allows companies to receive and send WhatsApp messages automatically through softwares.

With the help of the BrainCrop and Sinch, the WhatsApp Business API can be used in the relationship between customer and company in two main situations: for customer service (the customer contacts the business) and notifications (the business contacts the customer).

WhatsApp doesn’t charge any fee if a customer contacts the business, the conversation is open for 24 hours and in that 24 hour window, messages sent to the customer are free of charge.

Keep in mind WhatsApp doesn’t allow any kind of marketing using their platform and every receiver needs to be opted-in before sending WhatsApp notification messages. Each notification message sent via WhatsApp Business API needs to be a pre-approved template.
